Overview

What is In-vitro fertilization (IVF)

  • In vitro fertilization (IVF) involves the union of a woman’s eggs and a man’s sperm within a laboratory setting to create an embryo. This embryo is subsequently implanted into the woman’s uterus, facilitating pregnancy.
  • This method is designed for infertility patients in Malaysia who may not be suitable candidates for or have experienced unsuccessful outcomes with, procedures like ovulation induction, intrauterine insemination, or other less invasive fertility treatments.
  • The success of IVF often stems from its ability to regulate the fertilization process within a controlled laboratory environment, ensuring optimal contact between eggs and sperm—an occurrence that may not always transpire naturally. Additionally, IVF in Malaysia allows precise control over the placement of the resulting embryo in the womb, offering hopeful prospects for couples seeking IVF in Kuala Lumpur and beyond.

When is IVF Recommended?

IVF might be suggested either as an initial treatment or after the failure of other interventions, such as intrauterine insemination (IUI). This recommendation is common in situations involving severe male factor infertility or severe female factor infertility, including conditions like advanced endometriosis, tubal obstruction, advanced age, or poor ovarian reserve.

Treatment Steps

How to Get Started with IVF Malaysia?

STEP 1: FERTILITY SCREENINGS

We conduct fertility screenings for both partners to identify the underlying cause of the issue. The outcomes of our tests are typically accessible within 3-4 days. Following the analysis, our fertility specialists will propose an individualized treatment plan tailored to the specific results.

STEP 2: SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT

Should there be available treatment options, the nurse will schedule an appointment date.

STEP 3: PROVIDE YOU WITH ADVICE AND ADMINISTER YOUR MEDICATIONS

In your upcoming appointment, hormone treatment will be incorporated if IVF treatment has been prescribed for you. The nurse will guide you through the daily administration of your medication and offer advice on managing any potential side effects. Over the following weeks, she will provide instructions on recommended actions and precautions.

STEP 4: ATTEND A FOLLOW-UP APPOINTMENT

If you are an international patient, you have the option to conduct the initial hormone tests in your home country and share the results with us via email. Subsequently, you can schedule an appointment with our specialist between Days 21 and 23 of your menstrual cycle for comprehensive tests, assessments, and treatment prescriptions. You can then return to your home country on the same day or the following day. Within 2-6 weeks, a follow-up visit to the clinic will be necessary for scans to monitor the progress of your follicles.

Assuming all goes well, the egg or oocyte retrieval will take place three days after the second scan. After an additional five days, the embryos will be transferred back to the mother. Before heading home, it is advisable to rest for approximately three to five days, making the overall stay about 12 days or more.
